If the order is a completely custom frame order that requires ordering parts like a moulding or a color mat that we don't have on hand, then it will take 1-2 weeks because we have to wait for raw materials and parts to ship to us. If we do have all the parts on hand, and we can tell you which ones we do have on hand, then the turn around is much shorter closer to 1-2 days. Sometimes, the same day, depending on some conditions.
So long as you have the exact dimensions to within 1/8 of an inch, we can complete the order. I do prefer customers to bring in the art piece because the liability is on me, and I'll pay for the loss if the dimensions are wrong. However, if the customer's measurements are wrong, I can't take responsibility for that, and we'll have to place a new order or charge a service fee if a major correction is needed.
The biggest reason is you've got artwork that is a non-standard size, like 8x10 or 11x14. This usually happens because the artwork is foreign and is therefore measured in metric instead of American Imperial units, or the artwork was cut down from a standard size, or the artwork was handmade and made to a random size, and sometimes artwork is just an unusual size for no particular reason at all; it just happens.
The second reason is that you want to protect your artwork forever. Such as wedding photos, vintage family photos, signed memorabilia, and valuable artist artwork. We use archival materials that don't break down over time and use UV protective glass to keep your artwork in mint condition forever. (Assuming a moving company doesn't abuse the frames.)
The last reason is that framing is where artwork makes the jump to house decor. So you may want to carefully pick out a frame to match your furniture or just the overall style of your house.
